She finds herself entangled with dangerous mobsters, corrupt politicians, a stalker who sings serenades off-key, a crazy old lady who sees the toothfairy, and a love interest or two. She thinks she’s doing the right thing, but can she save herself when she becomes entrenched too deep in this Jersey shore mystery? (Note: You don’t need to read book 1 in the series to understand book 2!)
“LOVED this book! I hadn’t read the first book and… I MUST read the books in order in a series, if only to understand better the personal stories of the characters. Well I think this is probably the first book in a long time that I didn’t feel totally lost on the personal story….We give this book 5 paws and suggest you pick it up at your next change.” ~Leslie Storey, Storeybook Reviews
“I really enjoyed the twists and turns this book took plus learning about the people in Chelsey’s life, it was great to have a single mom being a detective so to speak. I also loved her banter with her friend Bonnie and how she handled Mike Nero Chelsey’s stalker…Can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!” ~Paula Ratcliffe, Community Bookstop

Review by Trudi LoPreto for Readers’ Favorite:
In Tax Cut (Jersey Shore Mystery Series) by Michele Lynn Seigfried, readers once again join Chelsey Alton in another adventure. I did not read the first book and did not know there was one until after finishing this book. Tax Cut is really a good book that stands alone on its own merits. Chelsey starts a new job as the Municipal Clerk in Coral Beach along the New Jersey shore. She quickly finds out that there are a lot of bad people and wrong things going on. Chelsey tries to fix the wrongs and uncover the evils, but in doing so, she is forced to deal with the mob and not so honest politicians. There are also a lot of good things in her life: her two-year-old daughter Mandy, her parents (who are always available to take care of baby Mandy), Bonnie her friend (always ready to help track down a lead), Nero, the man who drives her crazy, Babs, a town resident suffering from dementia but knowing lots of town secrets, and finally Bryce and Kris, the love interests.
Tax Cut has everything – suspense, murder, romance. Michele Lynn Seigfried has written a story that will make you laugh, make you worry, make you want to find out the conclusion as quickly as you can. If you are a fan of the Stephanie Plum books, you will like the Chelsey Alton, Jersey Shore Mystery series even more. The characters are real and the story is fun yet suspenseful, all at the same time. I highly recommend this book and expect to see it rising quickly as a favorite series. Tax Cut will soon be the most talked about new book. Don’t miss out – read it today.
Introducing a few of the characters:
Chelsey Alton. A municipal clerk, currently out of work due to a harrowing experience at her last job. She is short, slender, has shoulder-length blonde hair and green eyes. She’s a Jersey Shore girl & a single mom, with bad luck in the romance department. She lives over the bridge on a lagoon, from the shore community where she works (worked). She inherited her home from an uncle who passed away. I tend to think of her looking like Cameron Diaz or Renee Zellweger when I’m writing about her.
Bonnie Fattori is making another appearance in this series. I mean, who didn’t love Bonnie in Red Tape? She’s sexy, sassy, inappropriate at times, rich, and beautiful. She had an obsession with firemen in Red Tape. She’s working in the Tax Office at Coral Beach in the book Tax Cut. She’s married to a neurosurgeon and lives in a beachfront mini-mansion in Sunshine, New Jersey. If I were ever lucky enough to get a movie deal, I would want Catherine Zeta Jones to play the role of Bonnie!
Mike Nero. Resident (or should I say resident lunatic?) of Coral Beach. Thinks he’s in love with Chelsey. Bonnie wants to shoot him in the big toe. Picture Mike from the Jersey shore cast, but shorter, and nuttier. Won’t take no for an answer!
Kristof Beck. Chelsey’s love interest. A single and sexy dad. Owner of a German restaurant named Bratz in Jackson, New Jersey. I have to leave this one a little to your imagination, so all the ladies out there can picture who they like!
Babs Todaro is a senior citizen who lives in Coral Beach and has dementia…or does she? She calls the government frequently with crazy statements – like she’s seeing the tooth fairy. She likes to chase people around and hit them with her cane. If there were a movie, Cloris Leachman would be my top pick. I think she’s a great comedic actress.
Bryson Coach. Bryce for short. Bryce is the Tax Assessor for Coral Beach. A good guy with a big secret. He’s becoming a good friend to Chelsey. A better friend than Chelsey even realizes.
Some of the other cast of characters:
Marc Coglione, Village President
Winifred Strega, Village Vice President
Dingo Malvaggio, Tax Collector
Gino Righetti, Mobster & developer
Cal Zamboni, Gino’s right hand
