Judge, 23rd Annual Writer’s Digest Self-Published Book Awards, Commentary:

COMMUNITY AFFAIRS by Michele Lynn Seigfried is fascinating, engrossing, and entertaining. Recommended.
The cover is definitely one that would get my attention—sexy but not one that I’d be embarrassed to carry in public.

The title is one that gets attention, too, but not too prurient. The back cover copy will get readers to look inside and the author biography and picture are great. Wonderful work on both counts. Good production values overall.
The opening hook is good. The dialogue and action are both excellent. The author has an ear for dialogue and that keeps the story moving. The back cover copy promises humor and I believe the book delivers. I chuckled and smiled as I read. This is refreshing because sometimes detective novels can be harsh. The descriptions really brought the characters to life, too. I liked the mystery and the elements of the story, too. For me, this turned out to be a nice, pleasurable read. An excellent entry into the genre, one I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to others I know enjoy this type of book.
I think if this author keeps going, she’ll find and keep readers, Again, very nice book and story. Keep up the good work!

Synopsis:

A tale of kidnapping, murder, and neighbors you’d like to kidnap and murder…

Bonnie Fattori is a sexy, sassy, Italian Princess living in New Jersey. She’s loving life with a rich husband, beachfront living, and a promotion at work—until a new neighbor, Lyla Spratt, is determined to destroy her happiness.

After several run-ins with the unstable woman next door, Bonnie starts to suspect a connection between her new neighbor and the untimely death of a local resident, Polly Pitcher. She recruits her good friend Chelsey to help figure out if her suspicions are correct.

As the neighbors go head-to-head in a hilarious battle, Lyla is pushed to the brink of insanity. The more unhinged Lyla becomes, the more Bonnie’s life and the safety of her family are at risk. Can Bonnie find out what really happened to Polly Pitcher before it’s too late? A perfect read for those who like laugh-out-loud humor in their mysteries!

A great read for anyone who likes humorous mysteries!

What Others are Saying:

This is a fun, fast-paced mystery to read with a plot twist you won’t see coming. Just excellent!  ~Teresa Trent – Author of Murder For A Rainy Day

I like this series.  It is a fun cozy. With characters I like, Rhonda, Readalot Blog

This is a story with all the elements needed to keep readers intrigued to the end – mystery, romance, adventure, betrayal, and a couple of really crazy characters, Socrates Book Reviews

Wow. These characters are fabulous… ~Marie’s Cozy Corner

Ms. Seigfried does a fine job of taking the scenic route to reveal her story, and Community Affairs held my interest the whole way.  ~Back Porchervations

As with the first two in this series, Seigfried artfully combined humor and mystery. ~Christa Nardi, Christa Reads and Writes Blog

With humor and a murder what’s not to like. You will laugh your way through this book and help Bonnie solve the murder. I couldn’t put it down, I just had to know what was going to happen next. This is a great read for anyone who likes to laugh. Michele holds you captive and the characters are strong. You will be pulled in to the story from the start. ~Shelly’s Book Case

Trudi LoPreto for Readers’ Favorite says:  Community Affairs has all the elements for mystery, sleuthing and comedy written in one good story. Michele Lynn Seigfried has created characters that will make you laugh, worry, love and hate. I found myself reading late into the night because I couldn’t wait to find out what Bonnie would do next. It kept me involved right up to the ending I never saw coming. I highly recommend this book and anxiously await book number four.

D. Donovan, eBook Reviewer, Midwest Book Review says:  It’s detective writing at its best: adding a dash of humor to the mix to create not just comic relief, but the personality and whimsy lacking in most stories of amateur sleuths. And that’s what makes Community Affairs not just a standout, but a top recommendation.
