GET INTO CHARACTER!

Author Michele Seigfried, of Bordentown, will offer advice on “Creating Memorable Characters” at the Oct. 25 meeting of Sisters in Crime/Central Jersey at the Jamesburg Senior Center,139 Stevens Ave.,Jamesburg. Her program begins at 11:45 a.m. and admission is free.

Seigfried is an award-winning novelist, children’s book author/illustrator and public speaker. Her Jersey Shore Mystery Series includes Red Tape and Tax Cut; a third book, Community Affairs, is due out in February 2015. For her novels, Siegfried draws upon 15 years of experience as a municipal clerk. She is a member of Sisters in Crime, the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, the New Jersey Author’s Network, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks, Municipal Clerk’s Association of New Jersey and the Municipal Clerk’s Association of Mercer County, for which she currently serves as president.

In addition to hearing Seigfried’s presentation, all attending this Halloween-season meeting are invited to get into character for a “Heroes and Villains” costume party. Unleash your inner literary champion or evildoer — are you really Scarlett O’Hara? Katniss Everdeen? Bellatrix Lestrange? Non-members are welcome to participate. A prize will be awarded for the best costume. Those staying can bring a lunch or chip in for pizza; coffee and tea will be provided.

The day will begin with a 10 a.m. Readers’ Group discussion of the E. J. Copperman paranormal mystery Chance of a Ghost, and a 10:30 a.m. business meeting. Guests, new members and press are always welcome at SinC/CJ meetings. For more information, call (973) 527-1507, email rebeccarussell@verizon.net or visit http://www.sistersincrimenj.org.
